A nonprofit, nonpartisan educational institution, the Asia Society presents a wide range of programs including major art exhibitions, performances, international corporate conferences and contemporary affairs programs. Asia Source An online resource developed by the Asia Society to meet the need for timely, reliable, unbiased information and assistance regarding the cultural, economic, social, historical, and political dimensions of Asia. Asian Studies Virtual Library One of the most complete Web sites for Asia and the Middle East. A bit difficult to navigate through initially, but the links contain a wealth of resources on this region. Ask Asia An online resource developed by the Asia Society to provide practical resources for today's students and teachers. CIA World Factbook The CIA provides maps of each country and information about its geography, people, government, economy, communications, and defense forces. Interactive Central Asia Resource Project Middle East Studies Internet Resources Hosted by the Middle East and Jewish Studies Department at Columbia University. Perry-Castañeda Library Map Collection An excellent collection of maps available online through the University of Texas, Austin. Southeast Asian Studies WWW Virtual Library This site is maintained by the International Institute for Asian Studies at Leiden University in the Netherlands in cooperation with the Australian National University. United Nations This site allows research in several of the United Nation's data bases. Country socio-economic indicators for 1995 are online. World Trade Organization Yahoo>Regional>Countries This directory contains links to information about many Asian and Middle Eastern countries.
